7 Santi Hostel is a great central base to explore both Florence historic center and the beautiful town of Fiesole, on the hills behind Florence, using the fast bus services available. The Hostel is a short stroll from both Artemio Franchi Football Stadium and Mandela Forum sports arena, the main venues hosting the most important music and sports events taking place in Florence. If you are a music/art lover, 7 Santi Hostel is also within easy reach of the Obi Hall, La Pergola Theatre, Teatro Verdi and Teatro Comunale Opera Houses.
If you are eager to visit Florentine worldwide famous museums, you can take Bus n.17 (heading to Boito/Cascine/Kennedy) that stops 200m from the Galleria dell’Accademia, home to Michelangelo’s famous sculpture David, the Museum of San Marco, where you may admire many of the painting and frescoes by Fra Angelico, and Piazza Santissima Annunziata featuring the Brunelleschi’s arcade of Spedale degli Innocenti, the first orphanage in Europe. With a 10-minutes’ walk from Piazza San Marco you will easily reach the Basilica of San Lorenzo (whose sacristies were designed by Donatello and Michelangelo) and Piazza del Duomo, the square where you may visit some top attractions such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and its stunning Dome, designed by Brunelleschi, the famous Giotto’s Campanile (Bell Tower), the Baptistery of San Giovanni with its famous doors created by Ghiberti.
The historic center of Florence, listed as UNESCO World Heritage site, covers just a few square miles and Piazza del Duomo is just a short 5-minutes’ walk from Piazza della Signoria (home to the famous Palazzo Vecchio) and the Uffizi Gallery Museum (where you may admire the Birth of Venus by Botticelli and Leonardo’s Annunciation, in addition to a countless other masterpieces which make it one of the most famous museums in Florence, in Italy and in the world). Nearby Piazza della Signoria, tourists can also visit Palazzo Strozzi, a beautiful Renaissance building and the largest temporary exhibition space in the city. Walking from Uffizi Gallery Museum and crossing the most famous Florentine bridge, Ponte Vecchio, you will easily reach Palazzo Pitti, home to the “Museo degli Argenti” (a permanent display of Medici silver treasure) and the Royal Apartments of the Savoia family, not to mention the amazing Boboli Gardens.
The nearby town of Fiesole is also worth a visit for its ancient and well-preserved Roman Theatre and the traces of an old Etruscan settlement: just take ATAF bus n.7 that will drive you directly (for the fee of a single ticket) to the main square of the town, located on the hills behind Florence and offering tourists a unique, breathtaking view on the city.
If you want to take other more beautiful pictures of Florence, you just need to take another bus from the bus stop nearby 7 Santi Hostel and head up to Piazzale Michelangelo to enjoy the belvedere and pay a visit to the Church and Benedictine Monastery of San Miniato.
How to Get to
7 Santi Hostel is conveniently connected by public transport links.
Bus 1: Take bus n° 17-Viale Verga from Indipendenza/San Marco until 7 Santi hostel (the name of the bus stop is Sette Santi), you can buy ticket at the train station or at Tabacchi Shop.
Bus 2: Take bus n° 11 form “Stazione Piazza Adua” until the stop “Pacinotti Ponte al Pino”, this stop is 300 meters far from the hostel.
Walk: You can reach 7Santi hostel in 20/25 minutes from the city center
If you are travelling by car: you need to take A1 exit to Firenze Sud and from there follow the directions to get to Artemio Franchi Football Stadium. Once you get to the Stadium, take Viale dei Mille and drive through until you reach n.11 (on the left) where you will find 7 Santi Hostel.
